Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Sports Medicine Center and Real Colorado EDGE soccer formed a partnership to promote the health and wellness of the entire organization. Children’s Colorado is Real Colorado Edge Soccer’s preferred Healthcare Provider. At Children’s Colorado, our board-certified sports medicine experts only see young athletes. Because our team is specially trained in pediatrics, we understand how an injury may impact growth, or how growth might impact rehabilitation. We also offer supportive care in areas like sports nutrition and sports psychology. In partnership with other top specialists at Children’s Colorado, we are always developing new programs for sports-related conditions. We will have an athletic trainer on site weekly to support the needs of our athletes.
Children’s Colorado was named to the U.S. News & World Report 2018-19 Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll.
About Our Partnership
Children’s Hospital Colorado: Real Colorado EDGE Soccer Club’s Preferred Healthcare Provider
Our goal is to provide the best programming, value, and care for our members, and the partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado was a perfect match. Children’s Colorado will provide an athletic trainer at Stenger Soccer Complex home games during the league season, at our hosted tournaments, at certain other events, as well as, be available in our club office one day per week for visits. This will greatly benefit our athletes by providing immediate evaluation of any injuries. The athletic trainer will be a part of the club and he/she will be able to develop relationships with coaches, players and parents that are important for the well-being of the athlete and make care more accessible.
Educational Opportunities for EDGE Parents and Coaches
Children’s Colorado will also provide educational content for our members in all newsletters, over our social media properties as well as, during our coach and parent educational nights. This content will help our members stay well informed and on top of latest trends and treatments. We would strongly encourage you to check these out, and if you have any questions, we’ll have the resource in house to answer them!
Sports Nutrition and Concussion Management
Sports Nutrition and Concussion Management for young athletes is also available to our members and coaches. More information including contact person to come soon.
Meet our Athletic Trainer - Kasey Currence
I went to undergrad at the University of Missouri- Columbia. During my time there I was a student athletic trainer for the women’s basketball and football programs, although they didn’t have an undergrad program. I graduated with a BS in nutrition and Exercise Physiology and headed to Miami Florida to attend Florida International University to obtain my MS in Athletic Training in 2013. Out of school I got a job as an assistant athletic trainer and instructor at Missouri valley college, an NAIA college with 1,100 student athletes. After 3 years at Valley I moved to Colorado Springs to work at UCCS with men’s soccer and softball for 2 years.
Need to contact Kasey? You can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
For Spring 2019, Kasey will be available for appointments on Tuesdays at the EDGE office. Please contact her ahead of time to set up a specific time to meet. She will also be available on Saturdays at Stenger Soccer Complex during the Spring league season.
